As some of you may know I am taking part in a year long project called the
Benevolent Postcard Society. In a nut shell The Benevolent Post Card Society is an art project and postcard exchange rolled into one. The project was started by
Automatism blogger and collage illustrator Lori Langille to bring a smile to its members through the random exchange of postcards - which I think is a fantastic idea!
At the end of each month Lori sends all 257 memebers an email with an address to mail their postcard too. It is then up to each member to send their postcard on the first of the following month. As well as sending cards as part of the exchange you obviously recieve a card each month too which is very exciting.
As the project kicked off this week I thought it might be nice to share with you what I am sending as part of the exchange. Here are some pictures of the postcard I sent to my partner Marianna from Hyannis, MA.
Hello Marianna if you're reading this!I bought this card designed by
Hanna Werning in the
Paperchase section at
Borders for just 60p! The strawberry design is printed on a really nice heavy weigh textured card that has a lovely feel to it.
As the card has a foody theme I thought it would be nice to send a recipe that used strawberrys rather than writing a message. I found a
Jamie Oliver recipe for jam that I printed out on four 3/4 x 2 1/2 stickers using
this typewriter font from dafont.com. I finished the card off by hand stamping the date with some tiny rubber stamps I have and addressed it by hand.

Even if your not a member of the Benevolent Postcard Society why not send a postcard as a nice surprise to a friend or loved one? It is so fun recieving something other than bills in the mail.
If any of you are taking part in the exchange or you just decide to send a card to a friend for fun leave links to your post card pics in the comments section. Id love to see what everyone else is doing.
